SMALL GROUPS 

The heartbeat of KLIFE is to see kids grow in their understanding of what it means to follow Jesus Christ, and to do this with their friends.  The KLIFE model of ministry is displayed through how we see Jesus interact with his 12 disciples. His actions came first and words followed. Jesus “produced reproducers” and multiplied Himself in these men. We see His ministry continue to impact the world 2000 years later.

A small group is essentially designed to draw students closer together as friends by being in conversation with one another as they encounter God’s truth. When this happens on a consistent basis, lifelong friendships can be established between peers and the leader of the group.

“Two are better are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:  If one falls down, his friend can help him up.  But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!”  Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

WHY SMALL GROUPS?

Great question! Fellowship is more than bible study or a Sunday school potluck dinner. It is authentic and transparent community. First century followers of Jesus did more than study scripture – after all, they only had a portion of what we have today in our Bible. In Acts we read that the disciples “devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”  We hope to imitate these believers in our small groups. Small groups not only pray and study God’s Word, but they also share life and community together, learning what it looks like to love one another.

WHAT DOES A SMALL GROUP LOOK LIKE?

A small group has a KLIFE volunteer (college student or young adult) or a KLIFE staff member leading it. The volunteer has been through an interview process with a staff member, has completed a background check, and signed a commitment to following Christ in their own life. The groups are assembled according to gender, then by groups of friends possibly covering a couple of grades. All with the purpose of bringing groups of kids together to build accountability relationships. A small group meets on a regular basis and is determined by the leader and when everyone in the group is able to get together.
